TEXT: ISAIAH 58

In isaiah's day, the Sabbath had become a time when Jews became more concerned with ritual than personal fellowship with God.

Jesus before the high priest

TEXT: MATTHEW 26:57-68

Jesus has been taken prisoner in or near the garden at Gethsemane, and now He now must face the Jewish high priest for that year, whose name was Caiaphas. Not coincidentally, also waiting at Caiaphas' residence are all of the Jewish chief priests and elders of the people - all the major figures in that nation of Israel's religious think tank.

Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane

TEXT: MATTHEW 26:36-46

In this passage, Jesus takes His disciples to the garden at Gethsemane, a secret place away from the world where the most important prayers in the history of the world are to be prayed - and a place where, in their future, the apostles will look back to as a time when they were witnesses as disciples of the Christ.

Why did Jesus want the disciples to go with Him to the garden?
