Peter the 'rock': What's in a name?

TEXT: MATTHEW 16:18

In the passage above, we see three things are going on. We see Jesus talking about the church, Simon's name is changed to "Peter" and Jesus talks about the effect that the church will have on something called the "gates of hell".

So, yes, this is a three-parter, so it will be easier to read.

We have already taken care of the "gates of hell" part HERE (please click). And we'll take care of the charge of the church later.

True Religion

TEXT: JAMES 1:26-27; 1 John 1:3

v26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Campfires, torches and pedestrians

The real traveling we do through this world is not with the car, boat, airplane or train.

In short, we are all pedestrians, from the cradle to the grave. Although the car, boat, plane and train take us over physical distances, they cannot transport us through the dimension of time itself. Ours is a road upon which only people may travel.

Revelation requires balance

Every revelation requires balance.

The only way man can know God is through revelation.

It is through His revelation that God lets man know that man is not alone, that any other gods are "not in the room" with Him and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died for all mankind's sins.
